Amel Abdulla is a US trained Architect, registered in the State of Texas and a LEED Accredited Professional with over 15 years’ of broad work experience in Architectural Design and Design Management; Master Planning; Interdisciplinary Project Coordination; Client Liaison and Stakeholder Interface; Contract Administration; Event Planning; Team Leadership and Teaching and Research.
Amel received her B.Sc. in Architectural Engineering from the University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1994, and her Master of Architecture, with an Outstanding Thesis Award, from Tulane University in Louisiana, USA in 1998. During her Masters’ studies Amel worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant.
Amel worked in Sudan, United States and Qatar, and has experience on a wide range of project types, including sports; multi- family residential; hotels; theme park; office; institutional as well as master planning.
She is currently a Senior Architect at the Technical Office of the President of Ashghal – the Public Works Authority of the state of Qatar, where she is responsible for the oversight of design delivery of special projects.
Amel Abdulla collaborates with the Qatar University’s School of Architecture as jury as well as providing them with potential project briefs for the senior students’ projects.
From 2009 to 2011, she was a member of the AIA Houston chapter Executive Committee that organized the Gulf Coast Green Symposium & Expo. Ms. Abdulla also volunteered for the Girl Scouts Organization in Texas, as a Troop Leader and Trainer. She managed a troop with 14 volunteer adults and 55 girls aged (6-17).
