AIA MIDDLE EAST'S THIERRY PARET FAIA ELECTED TO THE AIA NATIONAL BOARD IN WASHINGTON DC

Three At-large Directors were elected by the Strategic Council on May 12, in advance of AIA Convention 2015.
The first of three was Donald I. King, FAIA, who was elected for three years. After serving on the AIA National Board of Directors and as Director of the AIA Northwest & Pacific Region from 2013 to 2014, he currently sits on the AIA National Strategic Council. An active member of the AIA since 1979 and a Fellow since 2000, King founded DKA Architecture in 1985. He received an M.Arch. from the University of California at Los Angeles and a B.F.A. in Interior Architecture from Wayne State University.
Also elected, for a two-year term, was Thierry Paret, FAIA. The founding President of AIA Middle East, he also served on the Membership Committee from 2011 to 2013. A Fellow since 2014, Paret is currently Treasurer of the International Region, of which he is a founding member, and a member of the Board Community Committee. He received a B.Arch. from the Pratt Institute.
Finally, elected for one year was Deepika Padam, AIA. She was both Founder and Past Chair of the Emerging Professionals/Young Architects Forum in Las Vegas, and served as the first female President of AIA Las Vegas in 2010. Padam was also the recipient of the Young Architect of the Year Award in 2013. She received an M.Arch. from the University of Michigan and a B.Arch. from the Guru Nanak Dev University in India.
The remaining three At-large Directors will be elected at AIA Convention 2015 in Atlanta. The six At-large Directors will support the AIA's CEO, President, First Vice President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer in leading the American Institute of Architects.
